Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to episode 34 of drinks and things podcast where we're drinking, talk about things. I'm Alicia and I'm Carver. What are you drinking, carver?

Speaker 2:

we're both drinking social light cocktail seltzers tonight.

Speaker 1:

These are peach belini flavored ooh, let's see how they did it's pretty good, pretty good, pretty good.

Speaker 2:

I'd probably personally want a little more of the flavor natural flavor, whatever in it, but overall pretty good peach belinis are just peach slushies yeah um, okay, so what happened for you the last couple weeks?

Speaker 1:

uh, we know that we're um a little bit late to the party, but we recorded an episode and neither of us really enjoyed it, so we kind of decided not to release it yes, and then we had like insane scheduling conflicts yep which made it hard to stream, let alone do an actual episode. But we're back on it yeah, we're back on the choo choo train. Um, so what happened for you the last couple weeks, carver?

Speaker 2:

well, what happened for me? Um, um, let's see. I think based on when our last episode released was when our boy max first step and finally lost a race yes, I believe, yeah, I think, so yeah in Singapore. They would just had zero pace whatsoever, and then, uh, immediately after that weekend, they then destroyed everybody in Japan.

Speaker 1:

So I mean, there was that yeah, and not to mention, like I saw this video clip and I was really sad because I think trucking tagged me in it and it was like, uh, because he was the one that said that he's happy that the max first step in podcast is back up and running. And he's just like I don't even listen to podcasts, they're all boring.

Speaker 2:

And I was just like oh, oh don't worry, they are boring, but that's not the point the point isn't to be, you know, on a roller coaster ride of emotion. The point is to just chill yeah let's see. The NHL preseason is on. I've been trying to catch games when I can, although I personally find preseason kind of boring.

Speaker 1:

I realized uh, calgary got their ass kicked by the AHL Edmonton Oilers did they?

Speaker 2:

yeah oh, because Calgary before that beat Vancouver's AHL. Guys like 10 nothing yeah which was pretty crazy yeah it was Calgary's team full of AHL guys to go.

Speaker 1:

Nope, really yeah, that's what I saw on twitter that's just a bad, that's just a bad time that's just this, just how the battle of Alberta goes.

Speaker 2:

Calgary has to get their shit okay, uh, we're back we're back. If this part seems janky, it's because her computer just spazzed out a bit, but it's fine it had a stroke, it's fine it's fine, everything's fine, okay. So what were we talking about again? Calgary flames getting their ass kicked oh, I think what I was saying is that Calgary needs to get their shit together so we can have more battles of Alberta. If we only had one and they didn't even show up, we've had one in like 20 years and they didn't even show up.

Speaker 2:

So we need Cal, like I want. I actually want Calgary to be a good team, because if Calgary beats Edmonton in the playoffs, I cheer for Calgary after that because I'm like well, if you're gonna beat my team, you better fucking bring it home you're not gonna beat my team, no kidding and then, and then fuck up yourself, because my team would have won allegedly allegedly yeah JK, unless yeah at least, that's the way I like to think of it oh man anyway, yeah, I hope Calgary.

Speaker 2:

I hope Calgary's better this year. It actually does look like Calgary is gonna have a bounce back year, though oh. I think a lot of their good guys are gonna do much better this year than last year.

Speaker 1:

The heritage classic. This year is a battle of Alberta and Commonwealth Stadium yes, that's right.

Speaker 2:

Commonwealth Stadium is where the Elks play, right yes that'll be kind of interesting yes, um.

Speaker 1:

So what happened for me? I guess I don't know. I had a time, uh, with my financial stuff for school. It was real dumb. Um, I have like a 12 days for it to like fix itself. Otherwise I got a reapply for school and student loans yeah, even on the phone with them, right um other than that. I decided to do an art challenge, so I have up on my Instagram for art. It's at Danny draws, danny dae and I draws uh why is it Danny?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I just like the way that it sounds and the iteration is nice. Oh, okay, um, and it's a character that I played in D&D, I figured that was the reason, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I just like her name, okay. Um, I started an art challenge and it's a 52 prompt challenge. Uh, you have like a year to do it, so like one per week technically. But it's like no pressure, you don't even have to like do anything if you don't want to, or you can do like two of them and forget about it. Like I'm scared, I'm going to do.

Speaker 2:

No, bowser well, you know something else that happened that was bizarre. On on, uh, on Facebook in a group I'm in, first of all, some guy said some guy asked me he's like is your name really carver crownwell? And I was like, yes, that's really my name. And he goes you have the same name as the main character. And, uh, you in an American Harry Potter story. And I was like I didn't know this, but okay. And then later on there's like some posts and I basically said something about liking the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers and he was like and then some other guy messages me he's like I thought you were British. I'm like why'd you think I was British? So I thought somebody posts in that group Like I remember when Vegas won the cup, I was like, oh, the whole NHL has been mugged this and that I've been posted about hockey so many times. And they thought I was British.

Speaker 1:

You're just like that one British person who like stays up to watch all these games or like gets up super, super early. So other than that, nothing has really done. I cleaned, I hypercleaned everything.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Like all of my arts, applies everything.

Speaker 2:

Everything looks very nice in here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Bowser is laying down and he's like totally clear and free of everything. Now he's staring at me because I said his name.

Speaker 4:

He's angie.

Speaker 2:

Easy, or is he just like what? What do you want from me?

Speaker 1:

Anyway, what are we talking about?

Speaker 2:

Today we're doing some NHL predictions and we're going to talk about awards specifically, and who's going to win them and who we think is going to win it all baby.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, win the playoffs. We're going to predict right here, right now, what we think the team that wins the Stanley Cup is.

Speaker 2:

Among other things.

Speaker 1:

Among other things. Yeah, so the Hart Memorial.

Speaker 2:

Hart Memorial MVP. Yeah, I'm going to load up the page because it has a little more details.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that'd be nice.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Hart League MVP.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Current holder is McDavid. I would actually say that McDavid's probably going to win it again.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, if he doesn't, I think Connor Bedard will.

Speaker 2:

What's our next one?

Speaker 1:

The Lady Bang.

Speaker 2:

Lady Bang Memorial.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Outstanding sportsmanship.

Speaker 1:

And gentlemanly conduct.

Speaker 2:

Hmm, I'm not sure to be honest with you.

Speaker 1:

It is currently held by Anze Copitar. I don't really have a prediction for that one, to be honest, I don't either, but for shits and giggles I'm going to say that Copitar takes it again.

Speaker 2:

Anze Copitar wins again. That's our official line. Next one will be the Vizina trophy for Best Goalie.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it is currently held by Linus Omark.

Speaker 2:

Linus.

Speaker 1:

Omark, linus Omark.

Speaker 2:

Yes, but next year I think Ilya Sarokin is going to win it.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I really like soup.

Speaker 2:

He's not winning the Vizina.

Speaker 1:

Shut up.

Speaker 2:

I promise you he's not winning the Vizina.

Speaker 1:

He is going to Soup for the win.

Speaker 2:

Lesha thinks Jack Campbell wins the Vizina next year. Everybody. The Calder Calder trophies for Best Rookie.

Speaker 1:

Yes, Connor Bidar.

Speaker 2:

Currently held by Maddie Benier. If you're thinking, anyone but Bidar'd, anyone but Betsy, you're not, you're crazy. You're not even watching buddy.

Speaker 1:

Art Ross for the highest points, currently held by Connor McDavid. I think Leon Drysidle's a good contender for it, and I would like to say that Connor Bidar is also a good contender for it.

Speaker 2:

I don't think Bidar's going to be that good in his first season.

Speaker 1:

He might though.

Speaker 2:

I doubt it.

Speaker 1:

He might, though, but if all else fails, of course, I think the trophy is going to Connor McDavid.

Speaker 2:

It's going to be either McDavid or or what's his name? Nathan McKinnon. It's going to be McDavid or McKinnon, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be McDavid again. Yeah, the consmith that's a bit of a weird one to go. Next, let's look at the other ones that we got there.

Speaker 1:

Okay, the Bill Masterton.

Speaker 2:

Currently held by Chris LaTang. Hold on, I just got to see what it is. Stop it, bowser.

Speaker 1:

You're being weird.

Speaker 2:

Perseverance, sportsmanship and Dedication, currently held by Chris LaTang. Why don't I just I'm just going to go ahead and see no Hockey Writers Association Submit Nominations for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy At the conclusion of the regular season.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

I'll just say, I think Leon Dreyseidel wins that one next year, why not?

Speaker 1:

Okay, leon Dreyseidel, the EJ Maguire.

Speaker 2:

EJ Maguire Draft Prospect Award. Bedard Like no, he's not going to win it. He's not a draft probs prospect.

Speaker 1:

Well, why'd you write Betsy Beside Well?

Speaker 2:

he won it this year, sorry.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah. That's what I mean. Well, he's the current owner.

Speaker 2:

I don't know any of the new draft prospects right now. I think it's a bit early for that, yeah, so I'm not going to make any guesses.

Speaker 1:

What about the Frank J Selke?

Speaker 2:

That is top defensive forward.

Speaker 1:

Yes, currently held by Patrice Bergeron.

Speaker 2:

Who is now retired?

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Sad. Enjoy your retirement.

Speaker 2:

Yes, it's also one I don't know how to make a prediction for, because I don't know much about defensive forwards.

Speaker 1:

I Don't know much about players.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

I know the Oilers and that's like it. Maybe New Zealand Hopkins.

Speaker 2:

Is he defensive forward? I don't know. I.

Speaker 1:

Don't know probably not.

Speaker 2:

Edmonton doesn't have a lot of those.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, my bets on you, ryan, don't let me down.

Speaker 2:

I might say Pierre Luc Dubois for that one. Okay, let's go with that.

Speaker 1:

The James Norris goes to the top defenseman currently held by Eric Carlson.

Speaker 2:

Top defenseman. Hmm, I think next year I'm gonna go for Brent Burns.

Speaker 1:

Brent Burns Okay, Top defenseman. I don't know who a defenseman is and I don't know anybody's position. I just know their names.

Speaker 2:

Another one might be. I could see Jonathan Marsha, so taking that one as well.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, maybe Mark Messier, currently held by Uh Stamco's leadership and growing the game.

Speaker 2:

Leadership is an interesting one, like that one's one, but growing the game, I don't know, I Don't know much about that.

Speaker 1:

Stamco's didn't retire right. No, he did not maybe he'll win it again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, let's go Stamco's again, repeat winner. Yeah, repeat winner rocket Richard rocket Richard is top goal scorer currently held by McDavid.

Speaker 1:

Yep Um I.

Speaker 2:

Think Matthews will win it next year.

Speaker 1:

Austin, austin Matthews for the win. Um, it's either gonna be between the two, so I'm gonna say it's gonna be Connor.

Speaker 2:

again, I'm gonna say it's gonna be between Austin Matthews, connor McDavid and. Maybe, Leon dry sidle and probably Nathan McKinnon again. Yeah but I think it's gonna be Matthews. So think, out of all those guys, matthews is the best goal scorer, pure goal scorer, I should say.

Speaker 1:

The precedence trophy.

Speaker 2:

Ted Lindsay. Let's go with the Ted Lindsay and the William Jennings first.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so the Ted Lindsay award is currently held by Connor McDavid.

Speaker 2:

That's most outstanding player as voted by the NHLPA. I'm gonna go ahead and say McDavid wins that again. Yeah, cuz I don't think he's gonna slow down this year. I think he's gonna have another 150 point year. Yeah, and then the William M Jennings is the goaltenders, the Goaltenders on the team with the fewest goals against. Last year it was all mark and Lienis, all mark and Jeremy Swamin. Together the tandem for Boston then the President's trophy.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna say let's do the President's trophy. Whoever wins the President's trophies probably gonna be who gets the William M Jennings.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, next year. I, honest to God, see it either being Vegas again, not again. The Bruins will currently hold it, but I see it either being Vegas or the Oilers To BH. I.

Speaker 2:

Want to look at the standings this year, as they were. Let's see, this is a pain in the ass. Those show you the conferences, but what I want is just the whole fucking league. Oh.

Speaker 1:

We also have the Campbell Bowl and the principal Wales Strowey okay.

Speaker 2:

So it looks like we've got Okay. So the top teams were Boston, toronto, carolina, new Jersey. Even the New York Rangers weren't that far behind Colorado, dallas, vegas, edmonton. So I think President's trophy I don't think it's going to Boston again. I think Boston's gonna take a big hit this year.

Speaker 1:

I Think the President's trophy I Think it's gonna get to the Maple Leafs.

Speaker 2:

I think it's gonna be Carolina. No, it's not. I think it's gonna be New Jersey. I think it's gonna be New Jersey because I think they've got the hell of a team coming um. Although I don't think they're gonna pull out like a 135-point Boston Bruin season. I think that's freaking nuts.

Speaker 1:

What about the Campbell Bowl and the Prince of Wales?

Speaker 2:

So who do you think is gonna be in the Stanley Cup final?

Speaker 1:

I think I Want to be optimistic and say that it's gonna be the Oilers.

Speaker 2:

Who do you think is gonna? Who are they gonna face?

Speaker 1:

Maybe New Jersey I.

Speaker 2:

Think it's gonna be Oilers Panthers.

Speaker 1:

Think the Panthers are gonna take it.

Speaker 2:

I Think the Panthers are gonna be back in the final. I Think it's gonna be Oilers taking the. What is it? The Campbell right? Yeah and it'll be Florida taking the.

Speaker 1:

Prince of Wales, yes, for a second time.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think they're gonna be back in the final. I think they're gonna be pretty pissed off about how that one ended.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and.

Speaker 2:

I think Edmonton's out to win and I think I have a feeling Campbell's gonna have a bounce back season, which means they're gonna have some decent goal tending. I think they've kind of learned some lessons. I think they're gonna do really well this year. I Agree and I hope Calgary is the same. So I want them to face Calgary in the second round.

Speaker 1:

That'd be so nice. Okay, so the cons myth trophy he's gonna get the cons myth.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, that's, it's gonna be so. If Edmonton wins, it's gonna be McDavid. If Florida wins, it's gonna be Kachuk.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we'll do the Stanley Cup at the very, very end, I think.

Speaker 2:

Who do you think is gonna get last? Last yeah, who do you think is gonna be the last in the league?

Speaker 1:

Who is the last? Probably the blue jackets.

Speaker 2:

Your last in the Metropolitan Division. Or Seattle Kraken 15 a Seattle isn't last. Oh, the ducks were last.

Speaker 1:

Oh the ducks yeah brutal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah yeah, the ducks were pretty brutal this year, so that's black. Hawks, which is why they got Badaard Blue jackets. Yeah, that's black Hawks and blue jackets are.

Speaker 1:

Both are all below 60 points brutal and Right there we're gonna take a little bit of an elevator music break. Yes, silly goose, your goose. No, you're a goose Honk, you're hilarious. Oh, you've got the strawberry daiquiri.

Speaker 2:

That's the one you said you wanted to try right, yes. Okay, so let's change, let's move away from awards now okay. What teams do you think you're gonna have like a bounce back season I?

Speaker 1:

Feel like the flames. They're gonna be like a. We're still a hockey team, please give us a new stadium I.

Speaker 2:

Don't know if I feel like the flames are gonna bounce back or whether I just want them to, but I do think like you bird on Mark strummer so much better have been, have shown themselves be, so much better than they were last year. Like they had both shocking seasons last year, like Mark strum was In the Vezana trophy voting Year before. So like to me that doesn't make any sense that he would suddenly not be able to play. He was unreal for Florida and then he got like something like 50 points. I can't see that. I can't see them, both of those guys, not bouncing back this year. And even with those guys barely performing, they only just barely missed the playoffs. So I don't know, they barely missed the playoff courtesy of my Winnipeg Jets, but yeah.

Speaker 1:

I don't think the Jets are having a bounce back season this year.

Speaker 2:

No, probably not. Not unless, like, for whatever reason, they just got great chemistry with those new guys they got but they lost some pretty key pieces.

Speaker 2:

But it does sound like hella buck is open to staying, maybe maybe so if he stays, I think they always have a chance, because that guy's like a Like a serial Vezana candidate. Like every year he's in the voting, so I mean with him. Shae Flea is still a damn good top forward, top First line center, so We'll see. And they also really won the trade with Adubois to LA. So I don't know, it may not be the best season, but it's actually not looking as bad as it was starting to. When they first got out of the playoffs there, I think everybody calmed down a bit when vegas went on to steamroll everyone else and it turned out, you know, winnipeg actually looked better against them than Dallas and florida. So, hey, maybe the team wasn't so bad yeah, that was the thing I just remember.

Speaker 1:

You're like my team just imploded. I was like oh no.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was pretty bad. Edmonton looked like they could have taken him if they just had a, if they could just get a fucking save, yeah, out of skinner. But I think he was too rattled. They should have played camble. But that being said, I still think skinner is a really good goalie. He had like a 915 and like a 2.75 goals against average so in the regular season, which are pretty damn good numbers for a rookie, so like they can develop them into a real. Maybe with that experience he'll come back to the playoffs next year just wanting it more.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, we'll see maybe If not, camble hopefully has his bounce back season, which I think he might. He's looking really good in the preseason. I don't know what he's looking for Nothing that means much but he's got like ridiculous numbers in the preseason. He's got like 1.75 goals against average and like a 965 safe percentage and apparently his numbers were the best of every single goalie in the playoffs Last year when he was playing, but he never started a game.

Speaker 2:

So I don't know, that's crazy A bit, of a bit of a weird one. That old jack camble he's, he's capable of being really good, but he's just so goddamn inconsistent. And I think that any Toronto fan who had him in their net would tell you the same thing. But we'll see how he does.

Speaker 1:

So do we think Connor's gonna make a thousand points?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, guaranteed Well, not guaranteed, but, like I said, I think he's gonna have another 150 point this season. He's not slowing down.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, which means he'd be over a thousand.

Speaker 2:

Which means he hits a thousand points, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I think that's probably like. What I'm looking forward to is like he's gonna be like it's crazy to me that he's like a year younger than me and he's like.

Speaker 2:

Max Verstappen is 25.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know right, and it's like these guys are just like unbelievable Like there's machines of war except it's a sport. And it's just crazy. It's like I was never good enough at a sport to do anything like that.

Speaker 2:

I was barely good enough for Junior B, so yeah, you're the best goalie in my eyes. Oh yeah, but you think Sup's gonna win the best of them.

Speaker 1:

Okay, but like you look so good in your equipment.

Speaker 2:

That's good. I'm happy I look good and not terrible.

Speaker 1:

Um, yeah, your like. Stretches are like everything.

Speaker 2:

I'm happy you feel that way. Who do you think is going down this season?

Speaker 1:

Going down Sidney Crosby yeah yeah, like he's on the end of the rope there.

Speaker 2:

Not quite. He's still got a couple of good years left in him, I think. I think Pittsburgh is gonna do a lot better this year.

Speaker 1:

Okay, Hell yeah Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if they're gonna get like to prime Pittsburgh levels or anything, but they're. I think they made the right moves. I think they'll. I think they got one more good run for the cup in them.

Speaker 1:

That'd be nice.

Speaker 2:

We'll see Old Sidney.

Speaker 1:

Old Sidney.

Speaker 2:

I think it's gonna be. I think Tampa Bay might actually be on the way down, though.

Speaker 1:

Sounds like the Ducks are on their way down.

Speaker 2:

Ducks have nowhere to go from here. They can't go down. They're already at rock bottom.

Speaker 1:

Oh my God, that's what they get for being named after a movie.

Speaker 2:

Not as the Mighty Ducks. They're not the Mighty Ducks anymore. I don't think they're owned by Disney anymore.

Speaker 1:

They're free.

Speaker 2:

I think so. Oh God, I think that's why they're the Ducks now and not the Mighty Ducks. I think they're the Mighty Ducks and they're owned by Disney. No, they're very much in a rebuild. Montreal is gonna be better this year. I don't think they're gonna be playoff level yet, but they're showing some really strong signs of in a few years they're gonna be a contender.

Speaker 1:

Ottawa Senators as well are gonna be I haven't heard anything about the Ottawa Senators in years.

Speaker 2:

They've been in a very deep, dark rebuild. But they have Brady Kitchuck, they have Stutzel. They have a lot of good pieces. Now, if they're not looking at the playoffs this year, they're gonna be another contender. They're definitely an upcoming team. Detroit A lot of questionable moves were made by Iserman and Detroit. They're supposed to be an up and comer. Another one is Vancouver. Vancouver has been so bad for so long, but even there they're starting to look good now. They got Elias Pettersen back. If you want to know how good Pettersen is, he was kind of he was like the guy when he was drafted, right.

Speaker 1:

Seattle Kraken. I think they're gonna be a mid-team.

Speaker 2:

More or less what they were this year, kind of a team of second liners, which is sort of what Vegas was when they first came out as well, but they're but I'm rooting for them secretly. Well, I mean, they got second round playoffs last year and there's nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean that's true.

Speaker 2:

Vegas. I was kind of annoyed that they won, because I find Vegas fans to be very annoying, but man, like they made Florida look like a joke.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, no, that was a brutal fucking playoff.

Speaker 2:

That was horrifying. I thought that was gonna be a way better series than it was. I was so mad.

Speaker 1:

I literally couldn't watch it because I was like so it stressed me out so much.

Speaker 2:

I couldn't watch it because it was just like every game's a blowout and I'm like this isn't fun.

Speaker 1:

It's like when you're playing hockey. Maybe you're the problem.

Speaker 2:

Maybe I'm the problem. I think what happens is that all the people who have a terrible team want me to save them. I don't know. Luckily, you know what the fucked up thing was that the Bucks weren't even a bad team last year. It's just no one would ever show up, yeah. People showed up. We were actually really solid team.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but numbers don't lie.

Speaker 2:

Numbers don't lie. You got five old guys show up. It's just gonna be a rough game. It's gonna be a rough game.

Speaker 1:

Five guys, the age of our parents, just playing.

Speaker 2:

Then after every game, they're all like throwing beers at me. Like you earn this, take this Carver. You need this, oh man.

Speaker 1:

It's great, fairly goes fun oh yeah. I get to sit and freeze my ass off on the stands.

Speaker 2:

That's the best part.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Especially because Bowser can stay home for a couple hours now without freaking out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, without having a fucking meltdown. Well, he has a meltdown when we leave, but then he's fine. I think he has a meltdown.

Speaker 2:

He just yells at us. He's like fuck you. And then, once we leave, he's like fine, he lays down.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, you're not allowed to do this Um what else?

Speaker 2:

Oh, chicago, they're still going to be shit, but they got Bidard. They got Bidard, which means they can build around them. Build a franchise, they're going to build a franchise. They're going to build a franchise Build a franchise, like the Oilers did. Yes, I heard rumors that Carter Hart might be, uh, traded to Edmonton. I was kind of hoping that would happen, because I think Carter Hart is like criminally underrated. That's what the likes of that do, okay.

Speaker 1:

I think he's on an awful team, which makes him look worse than he is.

Speaker 2:

I think he's on an awful team which makes him look worse than he is. I think he's on an awful team which makes him look worse than he is. I mean he's in the NHL.

Speaker 1:

I mean he's in the NHL, Dude's already made it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean you know it's funny is something I was looking at when they were thinking about who's going to play goal for uh, for each team in a best on best tournament. I mean I think he's on an awful team. I mean he's on an awful team. I mean he's on an awful team. I mean he's on an awful team. I mean he's on a best on best tournament. Turns out, canada hasn't really been producing great goalies in quite a while.

Speaker 1:

That's unfortunate.

Speaker 2:

Like the last really great goalies we had were Kerry Price and like Roberto Luongo, and I guess that made hockey Canada realize like, oh fuck, we better start developing goalies again. This is pretty bad yeah.

Speaker 1:

You fucking think.

Speaker 2:

Because, like every time when you think about it, like the best goalies in the league. You see Sarah Ocilia-Sarokin, Igor Shusterkin, Connor.

Speaker 4:

Hallow. Hi, I'm Sophie and I haven't seen a lot of movies.

Speaker 3:

Hi, I'm Paul and I'm here to help with that.

Speaker 4:

And we are SP Film Viewers.

Speaker 3:

Each week, we take a deep dive into films that Sophie is seeing for the first time, some of which are deemed classics, some of which are my favorites and some are just to try and get a reaction from her.

Speaker 4:

We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we have a lot of fun talking about what we've watched.

Speaker 3:

And we hope you have fun listening to our lighthearted thoughts and ramblings on this cinematic journey.

Speaker 4:

So tune in every Thursday on Apple Podcast, Spotify and whatever you get your podcasts from.

Speaker 2:

About KlineSallmark. It's like none of them are Canadian, not a single one. And like when I was growing up, you know Patrick Wong, marty Broder, roberto Luongo, you know Curtis Joseph, like there's a lot of most of the really great Gole's.

Speaker 1:

Don't, lorry A, I don't know about him. I remember going to an Edmonton Oilers game and me and my friend he was like playing like shit, so we like screamed from the fucking seats that we were in. We were like we didn't have you Don't.

Speaker 2:

Lorry.

Speaker 1:

A yeah, nice, I've had a thing for Gole's for like ever.

Speaker 2:

Okay, like I said, I think Carter Hart's better than people think, because I think he's just running a really awful team. But yeah, those are my thoughts on that matter.

Speaker 1:

Gotcha, I really think soup is doing a fantastic job. I did in the preseason, that's for sure. Yeah, go soup.

Speaker 2:

I still think Skinner is Edmonton's future. But soup can have a really solid year and have a really solid you know, get his starting position back and bring us into the playoffs. I think he can take it home. Hell yeah, if he plays consistently, which is a big if with soup. But maybe he's pissed off enough now that he never got played in the playoffs that he'll actually fucking play. We'll see.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

We shall see.

Speaker 1:

We will see.

Speaker 2:

Alright, I think that's it for the for our subject. What else do we have to tell them, Leisha?

Speaker 2:

We'll take money out of spite.
